Hi Batman

Nice to hear from you after my brief return to Britmovie.

Only ever saw the film, and that was first time around, and I doubt it ever came around again!

I would almost bet my life, no copy exists today, but hope I could be proved wrong.

I still remember a fine performance by Al Mulock, whom I see, from his IMDB biog., died tragically from a bizarre jump from a Spanish hotel garbed in his film costume! I suppose you could say, he died for his part!

You are wrong!! I have a copy. It is a bit "fuzzy" but certainly watchable.

Ouch!

I like Al Mulock ... he's one of those names I am always pleased to see in a cast list. He was especially good in The Hellbenders and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

I wish I had claws.

I've never seen this film but have always been interested in it. Reason is that when it was first in production (1959) a report in the NME said that the John Barry Seven had recorded some of the music, "including the title song and caption sequence." The report said that Lonnie Donegan would have a starring role!

I asked JB7 guitarist Vic Flick about it and he *vaguely* recalled that the film had some connection with Hughie Green - he was possibly producing. Then it was held up by financial problems, and, looking at the cast and crew, it seems that Lonnie was replaced by Marty Wilde, John Barry by Larry Adler and Hughie Green by ...?

I assume this is the same film that began production in '59, but I've never found any further reference to Lonnie, Hughie & The Hellions since the NME article.

Thank you so much for the DVD copies of both The Snorkel and The Hellions.

Please believe me, I have now replied to your PM's three times conveying my sincere thanks but for some reason you do not seem to be getting them. I have just definitely sent you another one, but have to be honest and say on the message threads my previous ones are not indicated.

Just got myself a PC with DVD, so at long last I can now play all the copies I have received from various kind BM members over the last few years.

Regards

'Rennie'

While filming Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time in the West - AM's one of the three gunmen waiting for Charles Bronson in the pre-credits sequence, along with Woody Strode and Jack Elam. You may have wondered in the past why Al's character hides his face with his hat much of the time. Turns out it's because of his tragic suicide while the sequence was being shot.

Famously, Leone saw the actor hurtle past his hotel room window and rushed outside, crying 'save the costume!'.

I've been searching for this title high and low.

The closest I've come was a dodgy pirate copy from Alabama on eBay which, quite frankly, I wasn't going to touch.

I've never heard anything but good about this film so it's an utter mystery to me why it hasn't be released.
