Any Mission: Impossible 1, Mission: Impossible 2, etc with Tom Cruise.

Actually, it's his hijacking of the Mission: Impossible franchise name that I find so galling. These films have nothing whatsoever in common with the original TV series. No master planner, no supportive teamwork, no deception that may run three levels deep.

For the purpose of truth-in-advertising, this series of films just ought to be called Tom Cruise Wants To Be An Action Hero 1, Tom Cruise Wants To Be An Action Hero 2, etc and leave it at that.

Well, on the basis that this is a Britmovie site, I'll limit my response to said category.

In which case, there can be only one contender - SEX LIVES OF THE POTATO MEN. This film is the biggest pile of manure I have had the misfortune of seeing and anyone associated with this meaningless farrago should bow their head in shame (Mackenzie Crook, Johnny Vegas et al).

However, perhaps we should also consider films so bad they are good - two classic examples I love watching repeatedly are BEAT GIRL and TREAD SOFTLY STRANGER, both feature wonderfully pneumatic blondes!

Nine Songs (2004) - Nine pieces of live music footage interspersed with porn - and not very good porn at that!
No story and rubbish acting. My friend and I sat sat tittering (sorry for the pun) all the way through. The most apalling film I've ever seen.

I've nominated this in similar threads but Rancid Aluminium still takes the biscuit for its bewildering plot.

Cook and Moore's version of The Hound of the Baskervilles runs it fairly close.

Don't know that it's the worst film ever made, but the only one I've ever walked out of because it was so bloody boring was Lady Sings the Blues.

A STARRY NIGHT 1999
Vincent Van Gough comes back to life and is shocked at how much his paintings are worth so steals them and redistributes the wealth. Crap acting ensues. All the paintings seemed to be based in the Los Angeles area

Spice Girls Top Embarrassing Movies List

By Sherna Noah, PA Showbusiness Correspondent

The Spice Girls film and the sentimental musical Annie top a list of “toe-curling” movies people have been renting out online, according to research.

According to online retailer Amazon these were the sort of movies people may have been too embarrassed to ask for over the counter.

Amazon.co.uk studied its movie rental charts and discovered a string of films in the top 100 which were either obscure, unfashionable, or had received a drubbing from critics.

Orphan flick Annie, Jennifer Lopez flop Gigli, Pamela Anderson movie Barb-Wire and Super Mario Brothers, the video-game turned movie with Bob Hoskins as a plumber, are being rented out online.

Amazon said it noticed a selection of obscure films appearing regularly in the DVD postal rental charts and concluded this was due to the secret demands of movie-lovers for these type of films.

Amazon.co.uk DVD Manager Matt Henderson said: “We have found that DVD rental-by-post has created a new demand for toe-curling movies.

“Films like Spice World, Annie and The Sound of Music have been on the shelves untouched for a long time, with potential customers too ashamed to rent them out.”

The top ten unfashionable movies in the Amazon.co.uk 100 most rented chart

1. Spice World (1997)

2. The Sound of Music (1965)

3. Annie (1982)

4. Bambi (1942)

5. Super Mario Bros (1993)

6. Barb Wire (1996)

7. Thunderbirds (2004)

8. Titanic (1997)

9. Hellboy (2004)

10. Gigli (2003)

Well, everyone to their own taste. If I believed everything that the critics said, I wouldn't have seen half the films I have. At least we all got you to watch it! There, your knowledge of British films has increased!

I saw 'The Trail of The Pink Panther' on Saturday. Terrible movie. Unused (which should have stayed unused) footage mixed in with old clips and talking heads. Inspector Clouseau goes missing and a French Reporter played by Joanna Lumley, who presumes Clouseau is dead, interviews all the people involved in his past life including David Niven, " I will never forget that man who was trying to cross the road." Insert long clip.

Film ends with a selection of "classic Clouseau moments". The opening title is just as dire and dates the movie too. The Pink Panther as a giant Pac-Man chasing Inspector Clouseau down a maze which spells (in long shot) 'The Trail of The Pink Panther'. After the closing credits we are told of the up coming 'Curse Of The Pink Panther'.

The Pink Panther franchise should have stopped after the Return of the Pink Panther. A Shot In The Dark was the best Cleauseu movie.
