If you buy a domain name - I own a few - then your real name and address becomes a matter of record. I think what is being suggested is that you approach the individual or company at their actual address. Not easy if you live in the UK and they live in the US.

I'm curious to know what Paypal did for you. The only time I approached them over a problem, they insisted I return the problem item to the seller and - get this -THE SELLER CONFIRM RECEIVING IT before they'd do anything; worse than useless with a dodgy seller. I was also frustrated by their impenetrable system for handling queries - no way of getting a specific answer from a human being. Result - I would never consider make a large or serious purchase using Paypal. My credit card company will at least stop payment if I'm being ripped off.

Thanks for the warning about "golden age".
Re: other dealers -
Let me add my endorsement to the others elsewhere about "Bob's Movies" (Welcome To My Home Page) who have been reliable and a warning about LearMedia who haven't been at all.
Sippog
I had no problems with Learmedia. Both films arrived in good time, in good condition. No problems. Evidently if there have been problems, they're cleaning up their act. I should also note that when I screwed up in my ordering, they were very diligent in returning emails.

(Pickford @ Nov 29 2005, 01:28 PM) he changes identities and has changed his website.
He'll often use the nic "Tryweryn" and go by the name of Dafydd Humphreys or Loulwa (his wife?) Humphreys (or the Welsh spelling of Wmffres) and also Dafydd Gwynedd.

Maybe a new name is required for each new Paypal account...

Cheek to put my name up for no reason. We are seeking to have this site shut down. Lets get this to court as maybe you can explain why you peddled pirated movies? Lets go to court on this one.

Make sure you tell the solicitor all about the breach of copyright and all the failures to deliver after collecting money and not responding to user enquiries that goes on at those other sites that we both know about.

I thought Tryweryn2 was talking about goldenageofcinema.com.

Whereabouts in the world does this site trade from?

It would be illegal to attempt to trade in the way goldenageofcinema.com trades if it were based in the EU. 'Never place orders online with a company that does not supply an address' is very good advice. Avoid such companies like the plague.

From a legal point of view, the only person who is acting questionably is Tryweryn2, who is falsely alleging this sites peddles 'pirated movies'. This site does not sell anything at all.

DB7, do not treat Tryweryn as representative of anything until he supplies you with his contact details and who he represents. Until then he is just a piece of cyberspace and nothing more.

Oh dear, www.goldenageofcinema.com servers are (and therefore the business is) not only operating from the EU, they are operating from the UK.

They are breaching all the rules of the Distance Selling Regulations (2000). They are offering NTSC copies of 'An Inspector Calls', the DVD rights of which belong exclusively to Cinema Club, whose version is PAL. I have let Cinema Club know about this. DD Video will want to know about 'Old Mother Riley, Headmistress' and 'Gasbags' and Network will want to know about 'The Arsenal Stadium Mystery'. The list goes on.

That's part of what I was referring to in my reply to them above.
They're upset that we've exposed their racket for what it is and that this board issued warnings to people.
