Went to my local W.H. Smith earlier to pick up a copy of The Daily Mail in order to get a copy of 'The Cruel Sea' but they had run out of papers. Fortunately however they had some dvds left so I was given a free dvd without having to contibute 40 pence towards keeping paul dackery in a job.

Speaking as my Avatar (the lovely Janette), I think this is one of the best films I starred in.....

I too was fortunate in picking up a free DVD 'Billy Liar', was talking to the man at the counter about the collection and he asked if I had picked it up on Monday and I said no so he gave me one free as their was some left, did not like to mention I already had it on DVD anyway, also I still have the tokens so I could in theory send off for the collection as well, might do that.

I've noticed that a lot of these "freebies" eventually end up being offered for sale on e-Bay.

Good stuff if you missed them.

Today's (Tuesday) free Daily Mail DVD is
'The Colditz Story' starring Eric Portman, John Mills
and in a rare 'straight' role, Richard Wattis.
BBC4 viewers who saw this on Monday will know that
it is a nice new print....

Incidentally, how much would one expect to pay on E-Bay for a
'free' newspaper DVD (including UK or US postage and packing) ?
Even if the DVD sells for one penny, adding a £3 postage charge
makes it less of a bargain.....

Depends on the title.

A lot of them you can pick up for £1 to £2 (including the p&p), although Whistle Down the Wind for example encourages some more energetic bidding.

If there was a series, like the Sun Carry On collection, some people sell them together.

The dozy Times website actually had a picture of the 1993 film version.

Saw the BBC series a while ago.

The girl and the ill boy are good but the actor playing the local lad is saddled with a cringeworthy script and accent.

One of the extras was a cast reunion & apparently the animals they're holding in the final credits peed on them.

Point taken about the other venders. But really why buy a film now at £xx when the trend is to give them away, sure the press will bet bored with the gimick and then its back to boring CD comps of hotel music.
