I have done Julian!, and thanks for the translation Bats!

Quite an interesting Cookery magazine in todays Observer too, all to coincide with Delia Smith's 'how to cheat a cooking', several other Chef's have put their penn'orth in in how to 'cheat' at making different meals!

LA DOLCE VITA
Free with today's OBSERVER (UK)

Report:

Buy the paper !

The DVD has:

a nicely restored print (Thanks to Mrs Berlisconi ! ) which puts my old
commercial VHS tape to shame.....

Widescreen

subtitles

24 chapters (unusual for a free DVD....)

running time : 2 hrs 45 mins

Superb value compared with what Criterion in the USA charges for this title
!

Of course the film is 'dated' (that is part of its charm) - it is 48 years
old, after all....with Anita Ekberg (Mrs Anthony Steel) in her most famous role.

And an excellent opportunity to expose the media studies yoof in our
universities to an alternative other than the latest Hollywood blockbuster
....they might find the images and ideas fascinating as well, unless they
are Roman Catholics of the Cherie Blair tendency.........Fellini is very
good on Catholicism !

Next weeks free DVD with THE OBSERVER is THE SHELTERING SKY (UK/Italy) .....

Guess this is the best place to post this, in Britain's Mail on Sunday tomorrow there is a free CD of Nigel Kennedy playing Vivaldi's Four seasons, I don't have anything by Nigel, but I love this work, particularly 'Autumn', as I recall it was the theme to the drama serial 'Casanova' starring Frank Finlay

........and I hope you're enjoying the CD as much as I am!

Whilst I've been 'surfing' today I've played it five times over, Nigel's performance is faultless!

Assuming those are all originals, and not dire made-for-TV remakes and such, that's a great line-up of films there, Captain!

Not, presumably Swallows and Amazons though I noticed that today's Treasure Island appears to star Orson Welles rather than Robert Newton. Not a completely vintage bunch it has to be said
