Oh I quite like that version, from a favourite Brit director of mine, John Hough.

If you are referring to the Welles Treasure Island, I have always enjoyed that version too.

I wish I had claws.

Yes, that's the one. Voice over great David de Keyser claimed on a Radio 4 interview some years ago to have dubbed much of Welles dialogue for the film, but I asked John Hough last year and he denied this.

Hasn't David de Keyser claimed a few voices to be his own over the years?

I have watched it several times and have always thought it to be Welles own voice.

Lionel Stander is great as Billy Bones and spahetti western star Aldo Sambrell is really horrible as Israel Hands.

I wish I had claws.

It's a good enough film, but is it worth the risk of being seen buying The Mail on Sunday?

At least they're giving it away inside the paper so if you can find one of those WH Smiths with an 'honesty box' you don't actually have to draw attention to your purchase...

Do they still put them in a plastic bag with the newspaper? If so, you could sneak up to one in the newsagents (supermarket would probably be better) with your Swiss Army knife and, under the cover of a FT, discreetly cut it out of the bag and slip it into your pocket.

Or even buy the whole thing and then publicly dispose of the scrap paper in the rubbish bins near the checkout

NO - you must RECYCLE!

(I thought you said you didn't want to risk being seen buying it?)

It wasn't the paying for it that I was objecting to. It was the risk that people might think I was actually going to READ it

Couldn't you hide it inside a pornographic magazine?
