I can understand when one posts a new topic and then it veers off into another. It can be irratating. When one is talking in the real world how many times do subjects spin off into other realms - it's bound to happen!
What irritates me about this forum are the people who ask for DVD's, sometimes rudely, and we never hear from them again. I think there should be a minimum number of posts before being allowed to request discs - say 50 posts?

I started this post that has had nearly 13,000 hits (A Record?) simply to inform
in advance what DVD's are freely given away with newspapers.

The topic has now received so many insane "Posts" that I am now wasting my time
in contributing further information on this subject.

I am very sorry to state that this will be my last post ever on Newspaper Free DVD's.

How about a compromise solution - whether it is technically feasible or not I don't know.

Steve / DB7 - can a moderated topic be started whereby posting is either limited to an individual, or alternatively, has to be moderated by someone before appearing? I'm NOT thinking of a board-wide moderation policy at all, just perhaps the "Newspaper Free Dvd" topic and the "Film of the Month" topic where basically we want to keep the conversation on fairly tight lines. The rest of the board would remain a free-for-all.

Just a thought!

Sorry to dispel your fantasies but Im from Edinburgh and Maltman is ref to my liking of Malts (wee drams - Whisky). I can understand your mistake it must be hard trying to keep at the same level as some of use, as for the FFGs I have yet to meet one, although I usually stick to topic threads the light banter was fun but it appears that not al in the forums see it as such. I must agree with them the Background chatter does invade most of the forum and I can easly see why some people might leave, checking the members list I see many members but few real posters. I want to contribut to the forum beyond the banter and help any who ask or I feel I can.

That happens naturally in some areas. The Films on TV ... area rarely gets any off topic posts.
If you did, I'm not sure you'd get too many posts as most people seem to prefer to see their comments appear instantly.
