Sorry Steve, I'm with Malcolm. There always will be a level of background noise and I'll contribute to that as and when - it makes the board fun and gives an opportunity to get to know the other posters. But there is another level, where the in-jokes and background chatter will become intolerable to all but a few of the inner-sanctum cognascenti and the others will say "enough" and disappear from the forum. I've personally felt less inclined to contribute of late - thank god I hear you say!

So, what do people reckon - too much chatter, not enough, or just right?

I think of it as like being at a nice party , where some people have had a bit too much to drink.
It's quite possible to have a decent conversation, and I always welcome your contributions, but there are some that are a bit loud although they're quite harmless really.

As long as the party doesn't get out of hand in any way then I'm quite happy to let things follow a natural course of events.

That happens naturally in some areas. The Films on TV ... area rarely gets any off topic posts.
If you did, I'm not sure you'd get too many posts as most people seem to prefer to see their comments appear instantly.

I think a gentle reminder such as we've had today [I can do diplomacy when I try ] if things seem to be drifting too far away and where there is a more suitable outlet is the way to go.

Here Here but then again viewing some threads its not suprising that many dont get replys, however the forum is a discourse and like Steve said its akin to a party and if you start a conversation then someone changes it or it drifts its up to you as the initiate to steer the topic back on form. Simple

must have missed it amongst all of the other posts, but hey it's got to be worth mentioning again rather than making everyone go back 3 pages

Point noted anything else of intrest as the initiator of the thread was crying as he felt it was just used for banter, so do you know anything we dont have privilage to, it would be nice to have a thread post that gives us info

Somewhere among all the other posts you must have missed my correction. Donnie Darko is in the Sunday Times tomorrow.

Bye, everyone. Good luck with your forum.

Thanks for the correction please don't be put off by a few people who have nothing helpful to contribute but just like the sound of their own keyboards, this thread has been invaluable in the last few months

Then perhaps, mister know-it-all, you would like to keep the rest of us unfortunates who don't have your obvious advance knowledge, informed as to what DVD's are going to be given, and by whom

Ask Malcolm hes the one whos sulking. Where is his info now its Sat so why havent we got any news, because he only knows what the rest of us might if we looked. Yes Im out spoken and I know somethings but I dont cry when others post on my thread I change the subject or use humor. Lighten up. If he is so thin skined as to not take a knock then he wount stand well in a lot of other forums I know.
People can gain info on any subject if thay look hard enough, the forum here as I see it is a gathering of minds in humour to banter and exchange ideas and info. If he is so easly put of by a couple of posts then I say NO GREAT LOSS Hope he learns to grow up and play with the big boys when he leaves nursary. Hows that for out spoken

Obviously not very well educated judging by your appaling spelling and grammar - if you "read and take note, brush it off" then why target a forum member with the accusation that their leaving is "No great loss"

Spelling and grammer aside you dont know me, now whos being personal just drop it unless your after bumping up your post count, I havent targeted anyone in fact if it wasent for some of the other members comming back I would have forgotten about it but it must disturbe you deep, why? The member is free to post, stay or leave as he please. Your not above a joke if I remember and some of your comments are a little arrogent if we are being personal but I dont really want to go down that road.
