Would you class Mary Poppins as a British film?

We try to disown Dick Van Dyke's accent - but generally, no.

It was made in America (Warner Bros. Studios) with American money.
It being a story about Britain (P.L. Travers was born in Australia) doesn't count when you're working these things out.
The director (Robert Stevenson) was born in Britain but had been working in the States for some time.

Hi

Nothing wrong with asking a question as it is the way to learn indeed! MARY POPPINS was filmed in California and most if not all of it inside soundstages at the Walt Disney film studios not Warners. I was born in 1961 and POPPINS was the first film I saw in movie theater it was released in 1964, I have vivid memories of seeing it then my parents took my older brother and me to a local store to buy the original motion picture soundtrack which I still have!

The second movie I saw in a theater was 1965's THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES.

Anyone here on the board want to share their first memories of going to see a film on the big screen?

Best

I remember as a lad queueing up for an hour or so to get in to see Cliff and the boys' "Summer Holiday"
