Welles' scenes in the sewers were shot at Shepperton - he couldn't face the real thing. <div align="right">Quoted post</div>
Tense scenes and very successfully done, while the movie's picturesque last scene is marvelous and it is as if the landscape presented is derived from a classic painting of Claude Monet or other painters of his ilk.

I'm quite a fan of the 1967 U.S film 'a guide for the married man' starring the one-off Walter Matthau and directed by Gene Kelly. It has quite an english sense of humour (not at all politicaly correct ) and that great cameo by Terry Thomas..
Another one i'm waiting for on DVD...

'He who is not one up...Is one down'

I'd have to nominate "Harvey" as my favourite non-British film. As much as James Stewart is perfect in the way he plays his part - and acknowledges that of Harvey - Josephine Hull is pure delight. Whenever I feel down, I watch this film and am beaming with self-comfort by the end. If only life could be as simple.

If ever there was a reason not to move to New York and become a hustler. Brilliant acting by Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman
