Default Memorable Lines From Films

What are your favorite lines from films? The ones that linger with you long after the lights are turned on? Rick's great line from Casablanca: "Here's looking at you, kid" or "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse" from The Godfather and closer to the heart, when Torquil looks at Joan and says, "You're the maid for me" in I Know Where I'm Going.

That's a great line from Bob Johnson, or should I say, how Sweet he was

Summing up the the risks being taken by the training 617 squadron in the dambusters the bomb aimer comments to his pilot "THIS IS BLOODY DANGEROUS" ...A line that has stuck with me for years and one i use regularly when the better half is driving

"'Ere, 'old on, where's Victoria?" as Bob Hoskins' Harold Shand gets into his Jaguar for the final time at the end of The Long Good Friday.

Apparantly, the "make him an offer he can't refuse" line from The Godfather was a veiled reference to Frank Sinatra, and the way the Mafia were able to get him out of the contract he had with a big band leader. That's why Sinatra was so interesting.

Hi, DJDave,

Fascinating. I didn't know it was Sinatra. I see: they played it safe by having Al Martino play another singer as the reference. Learning something new everyday.

Best,

Great movie that, The Long Good Friday. I'll never forget the frantic look Victoria gives Harold at that moment. Hoskins and Mirren were wonderful in those roles. There is acting, and then there is memorable acting.

Best,

A very funny line. If you think you had it hard, my brother taught me to drive and that was DANGEROUS.

Well he was also fairly interesting because of the way he sang

The Italian Job's "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" was a cracker, but it wouldn't have been so good without Michael Caine's voice rising as he said it.

Also, Benny Hill's Professor Peach's "Are they big? I like them big".

Wonderful stuff

On a similar theme and from a film with countless memorable lines - even though it isn't British:

"Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?"

Watched a rather silly thing called "Anne of the Indies" the other week but loved the bitchy exchange between pirate Anne and her captive (her rival in love!)
Anne: (about to sell her rival at a slave market) I think I'll cheat them and sell you as a lady.
The rival: Tell me, were you born in the gutter or did you work your way there?
