Lots, far too many to count, or to even have a vague idea of the number of times I've seen it. Probably well over 100 times at various cinemas and many, many more on video & DVD.
What is it?
A Matter of Life and Death (1946)
Some lines I'll say out loud with the actors because they're so delicious - but only when I'm on my own. I don't like it when people do that in a cinema (except at special singalong performances of
The Rocky Horror Picture Show or
The Sound of Music), so I don't do it.
I do lose myself in it and become unaware of (almost) everything around me.
The only strange thing, which isn't really a ritual, is that despite seeing it so many times, I'll be in floods of tears by the end. But they're not tears of sorrow by any means. I cry because I'm so happy and because it's (to me) such a perfect film
