Hi i have watched this film many times and i love it, is there anyone else hooked on Hitchcock films like me, He always seemed to mix American and English actors together and some of the locations were great

And nary a word about Sean's accent. He walks into small American business offices, at the country clubs, or wherever he goes, and he's not forced into some American accent. They don't care - they use his speaking voice as if that's totally acceptable. Yet they will clamp a fake accent for Americans doing British roles. So strange...

But for the film itself, it's one of my favorites. I am always left wondering what happened to her - happily ever after? Diamond tiarras that she wears later were hers rightfully, or - ahem - was she able to corrupt him? Hmmm.

Was that Bruce Dern as the bad guy in the flashbacks? I think so. And Diane Baker - now hers was a character that was left with deep waters running.

Of course, there are no English actors at all in Marnie, which is an American film.

Alan Napier!

And I've got it on good authority that Diane Baker REALLY wanted to be.

OK, well, maybe not "good" authority. Would you believe, "so-so" authority?

How about a sister's husband's cousin's barber's teenage floor-sweep who thought he saw it on a blog or a wall somewhere?

After a recent popcorning of THE MOLE PEOPLE, I'm not sure the UK claims Napier anyway - he was the white-painted High Priest Of Ishtar, holding his divining rods topped with a symbol that suspiciously re-appeared on Captain Kirki's uni, more than a decade later. Hmmm... I never did see Napier and Kirk together... could it be?

How could you miss Alfred - er, Alan Napier?!! It's not like he was shoved down some Batcave!

Of course, word is that he was plotting to dispense with both Connery and Hitch, and run off with Tippi himself. And that was just during the opening credits. Boy, I'm glad those screenwriters got there in the nick of time!

Hitch is my favourite Director.

My only problem with 'Marnie' is that the Pal Region 2 DVD is 4.3... and so I have to make do with NTSC to PAL stutter... which I hate... but less than having the picture cropped.

Wow Carmel...you're gonna get a LOT of people North of the border pissed off!

"Scotch" is a drink (i.e. whisky). Sean Connery is "Scottish" or a "Scot" but never Scotch!! My dad was a Scot so I had to sit through that lecture many times!!

Now to address the topic of this thread:

I met a woman a few years ago..a waitress with a name badge. The name on her badge was "Marnie". She was amazed that I would know the year of her birth (the year of the film...duh!) and then, after figuring out that I was a movie buff told me that her mother didn't want to name her "Tippie" so Marnie it was! :

I always wondered was that her real name Tippie, if it was it sounds so stupid to call your child that, it sounds more like a pet name than a real one.although some of the names they come up with today are pure looney.and by the way my apologizes please on saying Scotch, i will in futue say Scot or Scottish.

Born Nathalie Kay Hedren. Her father gave her the moniker "Tippi". "My father thought Nathalie was a little bit much for a brand new baby", Hedren explained at a 2004 screening of The Birds.

Although how they got "Tippie" from "Nathalie Kay" remains a mystery

If you said that to Sean Connery he would probably bop you on the nose!!! Its one of his pet hates, and mine!! ( im Scottish) To call a Scotsman "Scotch" I mean!!
Scotch as we all know is a drink, as in Scotch on the rocks, a man from Scotland is a Scot or a Scotsman or even a Jock if your lighthearted about it!! But I think you kow this and you are just teasing aren't you?
