"Scotch" is a drink (i.e. whisky). Sean Connery is "Scottish" or a "Scot" but never Scotch!! My dad was a Scot so I had to sit through that lecture many times!! Now to address the topic of this thread: I met a woman a few years ago..a waitress with a name badge. The name on her badge was "Marnie". She was amazed that I would know the year of her birth (the year of the film...duh!) and then, after figuring out that I was a movie buff told me that her mother didn't want to name her "Tippie" so Marnie it was! :

I always wondered was that her real name Tippie, if it was it sounds so stupid to call your child that, it sounds more like a pet name than a real one.
although some of the names they come up with today are pure looney. and by the way my apologizes please on saying Scotch, i will in futue say Scot or Scottish.
