Default Frankie Lane

Sad to learn of passing of Frankie Lane at the grand age of 93. His voice was distinctive on the title songs of films like "Gunfight at the OK Corral" and "Rawhide",.

He was a very talened blues and jazz singer in his early days, singing with Count Basie, Jimmy Rushing and others.

My old Mum loved him! I can still remember Sunday mornings waiting for the roast to cook and JEZEBEL blaring.I still know all the words.
Did i just write that? The therapy must finally be paying off.

And the singer to BLAZING SADDLES only because Mel Brooks said Frankie was the ONLY one to sing it.

i have to admit that RAWHIDE'S theme is the best thing about that fairly good American TV Western. I have been told that it's inclusion in THE BLUES BROTHERS led many other garage bands to learn to play it well on-stage, and it's one of the two reasons I've learned to crack a whip.

I wonder who can guess the only sentence i see from this post! I may start a thread on the OTHER reason but it'd probably degenerate into smut.

Hang on!
