Twice I've seen Coppola's Combo Godfather 1 & 2 TV special, where he's pieced them together in chronological order and inserted another 40 minutes of additional scenes, but this hasn't ever made an appearance on VHS or DVD. The only scene that I particularly noticed was the lengthy discussion after Duvall's initial return from the Hollywood producer's mansion, and then Brando talks with his man-brute who returns to deliver the horse's head into the bed.

It's an excellent - maybe preferred? - telling of the familiar story, but I fear it's a Full-Frame Only format, so if that ever did appear, would I 'settle' for Full Frame? I hope Coppola wouldn't make us sacrifice like that.

I agree with the first part but find Andy Garcia's devastatingly handsome, yet tragically-doomed role, the key-note performance; but the whole repertory are brilliant, right down to Walken's obedient goons...
