PERFORMANCE has finally made it on to DVD. There are those of us (saddo's) who have been waiting a long time for this . . .
First the good news. It is DVD quality of course. Reasonable sound - very important for this film - though I don't have a 5.1 set up to to evaluate it with. It runs at 105 minutes so presumably is uncut and you can get it at the very reasonable price of 10.99 at
DVD CONCEPT.com - Region 1 DVD - Free Shipping! or possibly cheaper elsewhere.
The bad news is this is the version where Johnny Shannon's East End accent has been overdubbed by some Michael Caine impersonator. The pace of the editing also seems weirdly languid compared to other versions but that might be subjective.
Extras include a slightly cheesy featurette, a trailer, and a VERY cheesy American piece on the filming of the MEMO FROM TURNER sequence which keeps going on about this being Jagger's debut on film (he had just made the abysmal NED KELLY). These are aimed very obviously at Mr & Mrs Mid-West USA or possibly at film students.
All in all - a little bit of a let down after reading a good review of the release on Amazon. I haven't watched it all yet but, on a first look, I may end up going back to my off-air recording.
