Default Sky Anytime

I did search for any previous links, but apologies if this has come up elsewhere.

I don't know if any of you subscribe to Sky, but I presume some of you do. For those that do and have a broadband account (any service provider) the new Sky Anytime service is well worth bothereing with especially if you are short on TVs in the house (ie you alwys lose out to your spouse or the kids), or if you travel a lot with a laptop...as I do.

You can download any number of their films (so long as you have subscribed to Sky Movies) for free and store them on your pc. The downloads stay for 30 days then expire. Other progs are also available although, strangely, TV episodes are chargeable.

I won't go into the full monty here, but if you have an account I urge you to check it out. Sky Classics is worth a look on its own.

How does that work then?

Can't you just burn the film to DVD before it "expires"

I tried to, but it seems to be encrypted so that it won't show through any of your normal players.

It's your soul that burns when you pay the Murdoch dollar.

Ted, I'm glad that you are happy and living in the land of Milk and Honey but for those of us that don't, until some bright spark comes up with a viable alternative...it's going to be Murdoch that gets my dollars!

Default Sky Anytime At No Time

Just a word of warning to everyone.
Encouraged by Brett's positive words I went to set myself up on Sky Anytime. After an hour of negotiating a screen I had to send a note to Sky as the system seemed to think I was already a subscriber - but it didn't recognize my name or any of my usual passwords.
Sky replied and asked for more details. I repled.
A few days later Sky asked for more details and I replied.
The other day I got this
Thank you for your email concerning the problems you have encountered while
using your Sky.com account.
In order to assist with the problem you are encountering I would require the
following information:
Your full name, address, telephone number, Sky account number or Sky viewing
card number, what time of day to be contacted (daytime, evening, weekend),
your mobile phone number, your date of birth and your sky.com username if
known.
Along with the information above can you include any Error code and/or full
error message that you have received?
I look forward to receiving this information together with your original
enquiry to ensure a quick conclusion to this matter.

Yours sincerely
Customer Relations Department

As you will see they are asking for the same information all over again - including my original note which is the one they responded to. They also want me to send this confidential information over a non-secure connection. And to think - I was going to move my whole package broadband, phone and everything to Sky - but I think you will see they don't seem to be too clued up on how to deal with what I thought was a straightforward inquiry.
Just a warning to everyone thinking of using Sky Anytime
