Default Filmschools in the UK

Hi there,

I' ve a question and I hope someone can give me an advice or a tip. I want to study filmmaking (director) in the UK and I found on the internet different courses at different colleges/universities. Can someone give me more informations about the following courses? Maybe own experiences? What do you think, which course would be the best choice to study filmmaking? Advantages and disadvantages?

- BA Film & Video (London College of Communication)

- BA Film and Television Production (Westminster Film School - University of Westminster London)

- BA Photography, Film and Imaging (Napier University Edinburgh)

Any help or advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thank you.

Rio

I was going to point out that the main thing wrong with the Napier course is - that it isn't in London. but I thought that some might accuse me of being parochial. :

And I do know some very nice people from Napier and from Edinburgh generally.

Who said; "Those that can, do. Those that can't , lecture"

- the above (mis)quote might seem a bit cynical, but, in my experience, always has a hint of truth about it.

I think you should try and find a film producer local to you , and go ask for advice - or perhaps a job. You'll learn more real and useful stuff out in the real-world than you will listening to some old college lecturer ( there are exceptions , of course ! )

- Also, internet advice is often given by those who have nothing better to do ( like me !! ) - any successful working director will be too busy to notice your request ( again , there are exceptions - see "John Llewellyn Moxey"( a prolific and well-respected director) on this site , for instance )

j.m.h.o. - good luck with your decision.
