Anyone know why this is the case. It's certainly displayed on my computer.

As Aaryk's got a 50" TV I would assume he has a pretty good PC ... mine on the other hand is old and past it's best, a bit like me. Suggestions anyone, about the picture issue, not my decrepitude.

Bats.

I think all the treckies like it, I wouldn't consider myself a treckie but Im a big fan of the original series and I liked the film too! Do you think Robert Wise got the job of directing on the back of "Day the Earth Stood Still"? I think that may have been his only other outing in the SF genre. That poster by the way(Star Trek) is designed by a man called Bob Peak, and he also designed the "Superman" posters. (Chris Reeve version of course). And yes, I agree its a very good poster!

'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' is just visually beautiful and quite atmospheric. Yes the story is stretched, but that makes it quite a peaceful movie. Nobody complains about Sergio Leone stretching things out be adding silent picturesque sequences.

I think those who don't like it, expect fast edits and a quick pace... whereas I think that is often why today's movies fail to satisfy beyond being popcorn flicks.

I don't really know why this is the case. Well, I have an idea but I cannot think of the right terms to communicate it.

Yes of course, I should have remembered that and I do have that movie in my collection! its a brilliant film . It says on the front cover of the DVD box "From the creator of Jurrasic Park Michael Crichton" I think the distributers should have marketed this under the banner "From the director of Star Trek and The Day The Earth Stood Still and The Sound of Music" !! they would have possibly sold more copies of this underated film....lets hear it for "The Andromeda Strain"

Im being ironic again as you have probably guessed!

Well... When you're on the net your PC stores images of the pages and the components that make up the pages so that they load faster than they would otherwise. Perhaps your computer has stored the image of that picture element... whereas the link has not worked initially on our computers so there is nothing there for ours to pick up and store.

If you emptied out your Internet Cache, maybe the picture would stop working for you also.

I think.

Well its a thought isn't it

The thing that irritates me with the recent DVD release of 'The Andromeda Strain' is that the idiots who put it together took out the tickertape subtitles and replaced them with DVD subtitles. So this black line goes across the frame with nothing appearing on it, and the tickertape sound effect comes on to no avail... but the subtitle comes in under the picture frame.

One despairs.

Aaryk, thanks for that response but it sounds far too technical for me and if I followed your suggestions I might lose the pictures myself
