Someone posted an item on the Moto Guzzi Club of Great Britain website (www.motoguzziclub.co.uk) about the IMCDB - the Internet Movie Car Data Base. Can we add any extra titles to the totals as there are some British-made films in there?

It looks to be an interesting site anyway, and one that doesn't seem to have been mentioned here before.

I reckon that there are some Guzzi's in The Guns of Navarone, but I need to check to make sure.

would that be an MG Midget?

It is an interesting site especially if you are a petrol head!(like me) I think my favourite movie car of all time and one I would love to own ( if I won the lottery) is the car driven by Roger Moore's wicked alter ego in "The Man Who Haunted Himself" and Im not talking about that frumpy burgundy coloured Rover P5. Im talking about the sleek silver Lamborghini Islero circa 1968. On the DVD commentary for this film good old Roger mistakenly tells Bryan Forbes that the car is a Maserati of some kind, all I can say is that they must have had a long lunch before recording the commentary or else Roge has driven so many exotics over the years that he has gotten totally mixed between his Lambos and Massas. Believe me, its a Lambo and there is surprisingly no mention of it on IMCDB site, or none that I could find, think we need to tell them.Unfortunatley I know very little about motor cycles, I do know Moto Guzzi is an Italian make so we could probably assume that most films made in Italy and featuring a motorbike would likeley be this make. Fellini's Roma? :

Actually I have remembered that David Essex was a big fan of Moto Guzzi and he did make a film about motorcycle racing with Beau Bridges, "Silver Dream Racer"....ahem...not the best of British but there could be some Moto Guzzi's in that, I vagueley remember a publicity shot of Essex sitting on a motor bike and it had Moto Guzzi on the tank, that may have been his own bike or then again it could have been in the film. Might be worth checking.

For some reason I am reminded of a film called "Electra Glide in Blue" with Robert Blake, it must be all this talk of "Chips" and "Magnum Force" I always thought American motorcycle cops rode around on Harley Davidson Electra Glide's as per that film but then one big motorbike looks the same as another to me, are you sure they were Kawasakis in Magnum Force? I will take your word for it but I always assumed they were Harley's. Perhaps the use of certain bikes was different from state to state in the USA.

well ,while we are thinking about motorbikes, think we should mention Jack Cardiff's "Girl on a Motorcyle" wonder what kind of bike that was? Triumph? Didn't Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins use a 1960's Triumph motorbike to do the stunts on "The Great Escape"........and shouldn't we be talking about British motorbikes anyway instead of these Italian and Japanese pieces of junk?....only joking!

Or the Ariel square four ridden around the country lanes by Dr Reeves in A Matter of Life and Death. Shame it ends up crashed and on fire.

Or the Rudges ridden by the front pair of despatch riders (at least, can't see the rest well enough) in the beginning of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp

Peter O'Toole as Lawrence spends hours cleaning his wretched motorbike before crashing it into a muddy ditch and killing himself in the process!
