Default 20 Films To Stay In For!

It's always impossible to answer the question, 'What is your favourite film?' because it tends to vary, depending on mood, genre etc.

So instead, I've come up with a list of '20 films I'd stay in for', so here goes, in no particular order:

League of Gentleman
Ladykillers
Genevieve
Whistle Down The Wind
Seance on A Wet Afternoon
Passport To Pimlico
The Titfield Thunderbolt
The Man in The White Suit
Kind Hearts & Coronets
A Matter of Life & Death
School for Scoundrels
Two Way Stretch
The Fast Lady
The Runaway Bus
Father Came Too
Crooks Anonymous
The Blue Lamp
Seven Days To Noon
The Guinea Pig
Get Carter

Let me know what you think and share your 20 must-sees!

I remember watching "The Runaway Bus "as a very young child.
Most of the films on your list have been shown many many times but I have never seen T.R.B. again to this day. Deep in my memory though I can still see Frankie standing beside a fog shrouded bus.

I met Ollie twice in the 80s. Once at a charity 'do' and again when we worked 'together' (he was the star and I had a walk on, which was cut!). He was an absolute gentleman on both occasions. At the 'do' he was a bit merry but spent a lot of time with the guests. He told some of us that he loved 'playing to the gallery' with his 'boozy' antics, leading me to believe that much of that stuff (the After Dark and 'jug' tv incidents etc) was done for the benefit of those who 'expected' it of him.

Bats.

He was in fact a very good actor, but he made quite a few "stinkers", have you ever seen The Class of Miss MacMichael?

I too remember this film fondly, and it has recently been released on DVD. However, I have been put off purchasing it by the many comments about the quality of the disc.

Well, if stuck on a desert island, or the Big Brother house (with a dvd player), my twenty would be:

They Drive By Night
Hell Drivers
The Fog
American Werewolf in London
Dead of Night
A Matter of Life and Death
Das Boot
The Ladykillers
Dumb and Dumber
Oh, Mr Porter
School for Scoundrels
Some Like it Hot
Withnail & I
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Usual Suspects
Witness for the Prosecution
The 39 Steps
Rear Window
Help!

I agree with both sets of 20 films, but would definately add a favourite of mine "North By Northwest" and "High Anxiety", both American I know, but coming on to British favourites......."Hue & Cry", ""Dick Barton Strikes Back" (I know, corny, badly acted etc, but my youth you see...) "Too late The Hero" (superb British film with most of my favourite supporting actors) "Cosh Boy" (my hero, anti/Hero James Kenney) I remember asking a bloke "Can you take me in please"? He obliged....NOT today eh! Oh and "The Hill"!
