I enjoyed that film. It was unusual. Wasn't it shot in Ireland?

Decided to treat myself to a DVD of “The list of Adrian Messenger” and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. Interesting story nicely directed first rate cast and a nice hit of comedy but I dare I suggest someone might make a remake It could be amazing if using the new techniques in makeup Etc,
I can only imagine the anger of people waiting to see Tony Curtis, Frank Sinatra Etc, only to find them only appearing in cameo!

Yes but I suspect only Mitchum got under the greasepaint
I also think that the stars themselves did not all play the parts they were credited with!

Don't they all pull their masks off at the end and "reveal themselves"?
Yes, but did you believe it? Burt Lancaster in particular!

I always have. They'd be the best "doubles" in the world! John Huston had a lotta pull, y'know.
According to the notes that accompanied the MOVIEDROME showing - everyone except Frank Sinatra played their parts. I think you can recognize Bob Mitchum immediately, and to a degree Tony Curtis - I still get a laugh at the Burt Lancaster part.
Sinatra apparently only showed up for the unveiling scene and you will note he is shot in semi darkness and from a distance.
Just checked with the AMG and IMDb and both say that Sinatra and Lancaster (also AMG says Curtis) only appeared at the end of the film and were paid $75,000 each for doing so. Someone else suggests that Jan Merlin did some of Kirk Douglas's scenes! The plot thickens!
