name='jamesharris']again john clearly reveals himself to be a troll

it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that giving away the entire plot doesn't mean every nuance

he seems to think its amusing to give away the ending of a film and his defence is ludicrous
I agree he gave out a few key elements of the story, which of course I won't repeat now.

Any one with one quarter of a brain would know that the English language is quite

good with logic i.e., 'the entire plot' means the entire plot! Where do you stand Mr. Harris with the national press pre-release reviews? Writers who made all the same references to the points that I made only big time. You should know all about being a troll and would assume that the patronizing script to appeal to the under 15s might just reach you!

your comments here make no sense whatever..the comments on hypocrisy ( which you appear to have seen fit to delete) referring to the national press are also idiotic.

I, and many others, avoided national press reviews in the chance that they might contain spoilers. It seemed reasonable to assume that someone posting on a forum for those who are film fans- most at least-would have the common decency to give a spoiler warning.

be mature for once and accept that you are in the wrong.

I would point out that on IMD if you do not indicate spoilers when including them in a review they can chuck you off the site without any warnings.

I thought the film was postively dull.

I was very pleased to see that they gave a nod to Denholm Elliot, and quite rightly too.

The film really did feel, well, bland to be honest.

Indeed. A great pity. I have to say what rescued it for me more than anything was Shia LaBeouf, who I thought was brilliant, and I would definitely like to see him in the rumored spin-off movies they seem to be considering.

Another thing I didn't care for was the lighting. I've always thought that Douglas Slocombe made the first three with his stunning cinematography, and I just didn't care for the soft, pastilly look that Janusz Kaminski has gone for.

Oh well, can't please 'em all, I guess!

I didn't entirely write it off. Ray Winston was along for the ride and could have been written out and Cate Blanchett was reduced to a cipher. There were enough bravura sequences in it IMHO and while it may not have met many expectations (which would have been very high) I quite liked it. There were pot holes in the plot (there were some in the earlier films as well) and it did play a bit safe but generally it did work for me.

I like to compare it favourably against the last Brosnan Bond where I found the self-referencing clumsy and the CGI very low-grade and the whole thing felt rather lethargic. This one managed to avoid those pit-falls. I do, however, take issue with SS's remark that it works as a separate entity away from the rest of the series.

I was looking through a book on Alan Ladd recently. A film called 'China'(circa 1943) featured Alan dressed in a battered fedora, a short leather jacket and scruffy trousers. It had a very un PC headline about the Japanese. Alan played the part of 'MrJones' I wonder if this was the template for the writers?

I think I will have to wait before it comes out on DVD - can't get the chance to go to the cinema.

i seen it last week and its a terrible indy film. When i first seen and heard harrison ford speak i knew it was gonna be rubbish he's just to old! and theres a scene where his son goes swinging through trees with monkeys... its just too unbeleivable. i can safely say i was 100% disappointed.

On the basis of Crystal Skull I sincerely hope they don't do another one but if they do it would be interesting if the script made allowances for Indy's advancing years rather than merely having him to do exacty as he did as a younger man. Personally I found Shia LeBeouf a constant irritation and his role as a surrogate Indy and possible spin-off hero too contrived for words. I realised something was amiss when I found mself fixating first on Ray Winstone's moustache and then on Karen Allen's glazed smile. All in all it was an unworthy addition to the Indiana Jones series and makes me wonder what the rejected script by Frank Darabont which incuded both Indy's brother and the return of his dad, might have been like.
