In films you see sets of the inside/outside folks homes and sometimes wish you too could live in a place like that. My own favourite is the Brewster Sisters house in "Arsenic & Old Lace" Second would be the Windmill in "Chitty, Chitty, bang bang" Where would be your ideal home?

Montag and Linda's little bungalow in the Film 'Fahrenheit 451', that'll do for Sis and I!

Ultra-modern (for it's time), big windows to let in plenty of light to the 'less is more' interior, surrounded by Silver-birch trees.........wish I could retire there!

(I don't suppose anyone has a pic they could post?, I only have the movie on Video)

Well the town is Shere in Surrey, near Guildford. The building with what looks like a steeple isn't a church, it's the fire-station (made of wood) for the local volunteer fire-brigade and they call in the volunteers by ringing the bell in the tower

and the beach is Saunton Sands in north Devon

When I went there, I was trying to figure out exactly where they'd filmed. Difficult because the dunes, although still extensive, have moved over the last 50-60 years. I was just taking a photo of where I thought it probably was, when what should come out of the dunes?

Helen Mirren's Scottish house in The Queen would be nice. Bit far from the shops but I'm assuming it comes with the staff.

Lovely choice, standing on a village green

and a pub on the other side

"What wouldn't I give to grow old in a place like that!"

And of course the lovely thing is that Alison, or Sheila Sim, has grown old in a place somewhat like that (with Lord Dickie Attenborough).

Not actually their house, but that's the green just outside their front door

Always had a soft spot for Brockett Hall used in Night of the Demon for the home of Dr Julian Carswell.

That is good to hear - and based on what I saw of her in the interview on the DVD, it could not have happened to a nicer person.

She is a lovely lady. They're a lovely couple.

When Sheila introduced A Canterbury Tale in Canterbury in 2005 Dickie came along as well. Sheila's not as used to public speaking as he is but she gave it a great introduction. When she came to sit down after the introduction Dickie gave her a little hug and a kiss. Not many people saw it, the theatre had been darkened by then, it wasn't done to be seen. It was just a bit of support and affection between a couple who are still very much in love after 60+ years of marriage
