Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.....not in my home town of Basingstoke, but a seaside resort when it started to pour down on a daytrip...probably Bournemouth. I would have been approaching five...did they have to make The Childcatcher quite so terrifying??
Whistle Down The Wind.
Went home looking for Jesus![]()

name='Widmerman']I remember seeing this film at the Granada, Thornton Heath with my father, I must have been about 5. I think this was the first film that I saw.
I'm fairly sure my first film would have been at the (long departed) Granada at Thornton Heath too since it was our nearest cinema.
'The Hallaulauh Trial' at The WGC Odean.
I got told off by Ma for jumping up and down in my seat shouting 'he's behind you'...............
Shut Up!! I was only 7!!![]()
SUMMER HOLIDAY with Cliff at the ABC Hounslow, RIP. Now a closed supermarket I think.
The Astoria, Ashford was brilliant as it had the films that the ABC or Odeon Hounslow West had, but the following week, which was handy if you missed them. Rather like the satellite +1 channels!
As far as I can remember the first film I ever saw at the pictures or flicks was "Ring of Bright Water" that would have been early 1970's mum took me & my little bro to that one. The first time I went to the pictures with my mates was to see Blazing Saddles (what a film) we laughed all the way through it, that would have been around 1974 or 75 I think.

Did you go to the screening of "The Raging Moon" in 1971 in Hounslow, at the Odeon I think, when Bryan Forbes and Nanette Newman came on stage at the end to answer questions?

name='Mark O']The first Movie I can recall seeing at the Cinema when I was a Nipper was 'Thunderbirds are go', being a Thunderbirds nut then (and still today!).......I guess it would be about 1966, I distinctly remember Alan Tracy's 'dream' sequence when he goes on a date with Lady Penelope, literally to the Stars to see Cliff Richard junior and the Shadows!![]()
This was also my first cinema experience. Wasn't this the one where a giant crocodile attacks Lady Penelope's mansion?Or was it from the sequel?
"Androcles and the Lion" with Jean Simmons and Victor Manure. Must have been circa 1953-54.
fidler on the roof with my nan at the woodford odeon. late 60s
At the cinema it was The Sound of Music, then the Jungle Book, then I think it was You only live Twice.
At home one of the Carry On films.
Cant be sure as was taken to the pictures around four years old but seem to remember Tony Curtis a lot so maybe one of his or there was always a Western. but Ill have to go for King Kong as it sticks in my mind the most. and Geordie.
Mine was a film called Old Yeller about a boy and his dog 1957 (that's aged me hasn't it!). I have kept an abiding love of dogs ever since and anything with canines in always gets my vote and probably a good box of tissues kept by my side!
Maralyn
The first film that I saw was Tom Thumb with Russ Tamblyn, Peter Sellers must have been at a cinema in Lewisham.
