Half awake this morning and caught some article about famous moustaches in the movies on the radio.

So I was wondering, who do you think looked great in a moustache in the movies?

And ladies, a tache or no tache?

For me, I like the following taches:

Oliver Reed. Particularly in Women In Love/The Devils. Ollie was one of those rare creatures who actually looked good in a tache - made a man's man more manly.

Errol Flynn. The pencil moustache - sign of the cad. And didn't it suit him well.

No sorry, I don`t like a tache, it makes men look old (and nothing against older men, I do like them ) but they make some men look TOO old if you know what I mean?

Of course a pencil tache can be distinguished, but you have to have a certain face to get away with that IMHO! Like David niven.

And when men with a bushy tache have a pint and the throth sticks to it, it is quite repulsive I`m afraid!

In all his performances, I've seen, Jimmy Edwards always had his handlebar mustache.

It's disguised with a beard in the opening scenes of Treasure Hunt. But I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen a pic of the adult Edwards sans facial hair.

Well, it depends does doesn't it?

I prefer to judge each case on a tash- to-tash basis.

Some actors look fab with one (Dickie Todd, Errol Flynn) and others look quite odd (William Hurt, Gary Oldman).

But then Jason Lee looks good with a 'tash and very strange without one.

And it depends on the moustash - are we talking the Midge Ure pencil thin (*swoon*) or the Jimmy Edwards walrus (*gag*)?

Personally, I adore a goatee - they seem to suit everyone.

    Ernie Kovacs.

I think Torin looked good with the "facial hair" - even if it was artificial. My guess is his natural facial hair wasn't the right texture to grow well.

Did he ever grow a real one? I always remember his tash being greasepaint.

Not sure when he grew the real one but it's definitely his own 'tache in his postwar tv career

In close ups in A Night in Casablanca you can see his own face fur under the grease paint.
