But The Birds is already a remake - of I Know Where I'm Going!
A spoilt, rich young woman heads for a rural community and meets a young man. While there, she stays at the house of a second woman who she believes may have been in a relationship with the young man, but it transpires was not. Due to the forces of nature, she is forced to remain in the community long enough to fall in love.
The person who first pointed that out (Richard Layne) then added "Of course, IKWIG is far superior since P&P felt no-need to resort to such attention-grabbing tactics as killer birds!"
But I then pointed out that IKWIG does indeed have a killer bird - Torquil the Golden Eagle
Richard also pointed out the similarities between A Canterbury Tale & Twin Peaks:-
A group of people investigate a bizarre serial attacker. The identity of the culprit is ultimately less important than mystical interludes and long conversations about wood.
To which someone else (Malcolm) added that they also both have an American intruder with odd characteristics by the name of "Bob."

Would it still be a remake if they filmed the original Du Maurier story rather than the Hitchcok version?
Do you mean setting the story in Cornwall, rather than California?

Amongst the rest of the original story, yes.

LOL You know, despite the attacking birds she really doesn't look all that upset. lol
What next--a wheelchair-bound Ken peering out the Malibu Dream House window with his camera? lol

A good point. Immediately we think of it as a remake of the Hitchcock film, but it could be a direct transalation of the original book, which would be a better idea. Now will George and Naomi come over here to film it in Cornwall.............?
I know Amethyst Isle will make a beeline to the county.

The first film was made from the Du Maurier story.
So if the second film is also made from the Du Maurier story then it is being re-made from the Du Maurier story. So yes, it's a remake. But it's a remake from the original story, not a remake of the first film
Steve
I'd like to see a combination remake of Du Maurier's "The Birds" and "Don't Look Now" called Don't Flock Now.
Sorry, that's terrible.![]()

It looks as if it will be a remake of the Hitchcock film. Apart from the basic concept of hostile birds attacking human beings and bringing about the possible destruction of the world, Hitch and his writers created a new storyline, much in the same way as happened with The 39 Steps.
