For my money, Ed Asner is Santa in the recent comedy film Elf.

Who's your favourite screen Santa - and I do mean genuine ones, not just dressed up characters!

I thought that Edmund Gwenn played the better Kris Kringle in the original film version of 'Miracle On 34th Street' (1947).

Absolutely! I thought Edmund Gwenn -was- Santa when I was little and saw reruns of that film on TV.

    Cheers,

Edmund Gwenn proves what many have long suspected, Santa was a Brit!

Even when you see him in other films, he still manages to convince you he was Santa Claus.

In fact I am sure he IS Santa and just came to earth for a while to pursue an alternate career between Christmasses.

    No.

As I said at the top of the thread - what we're talking about here is Santa. Billy Bob in Bad Santa is a store santa not the real one!

It is a great film though - On tonight on C5!

But he might have been the real one pretending to be a store Santa ... it could happen!

It would have been interesting to see Laurence Naismith, who played Santa in the musical of Miracle on 34th Street, called Here's Love. He was excellent as Mr. Blunden.

Richard Attenborough in Mircale on 34th Street.

Everytime I see him I start to believe that he is the real Santa Claus!
