Gosh, Im surprised to hear you say that, I think Caine is refreshingly honest and self depreciating when he talks about his profession and seems to be without any pretention at all which is rare in the film industry today. Not saying you have to like him and I respect your opinion but just wonder what it is you don't like about him? I always thought he was a very likable chap. Didn't you like "Zulu" or the Harry Palmer films? Or what about "Educating Rita" Can't I persuade you to like even one of his films? Im a big fan of some of his films so thought I better stick up for him

There are some actors who, as I have hinted at before, always turn in polished work even in th most trying of circumstances (when produced by Jess Franco, Harry Allan Towers et al) and those are the actors that very often I admire the most. In these serried ranks I would place - David Niven, Herbert Lom, Robert Morley, Dennis Price, Trevor Howard and many others. Niven actually said to his agent - 'get me 200K, a nice location and don't even look at the script'. I guess that ultimately no one knows anything (to quote William Goldman) when it comes to predicting a good film let alone a successful one.

I despise Producers for the most part... though don't tell them that until I've secured a budget for my project - lol

I tend to watch any movie with Anthony Hopkins, Johnney Depp, Alistair Sim, Margaret Rutherford or Clint Eastwood... or serious movies with Robin Williams (preferrably as a nasty)... Everybody ought to catch 'One Hour Photo'.

I tend to go mostly for Directors... I have a lot of Alfred Hitchcock's movies on DVD, I'm also keen on Michael Powell, Orson Welles, David Lean, Darran Aronofsky, Robert Wise, Roger Spottiswoode, Richard Franklin, Brian DePalmer, Peter Yates, M. Night Shyamalan, Paul Verhoeven (USA), and Steven Spielberg (Pre 'E.T.' and post 'A.I.' movies especially).

Yep, I would go along with most of those choices. I have always thought Robert Wise to have had a fascinating career having embraced so many different genres so succesfully, I can't think of another director who has done so on the scale of success that he has, The Andromeda Strain, Star Trek The Movie, West Side Story and The Sound of Music!!....... The Day The Earth Stood Still and The Sand Pebbles to mention a few, just an amazing variety of films.

Im sorry nothing can persuade me to like him i think he seems too cocky on and off film iv seen him in interveiws and i just could not warm to him, he may be a really nice man but i for one just cant warm to him at all. I also hate Tom Hankes and cant see the attraction in his films they are all boring to me Castaway what the hell was that all about 1 man and a football how exciting NOT.

May I add a provision here, since there is one Anthony Hopkins movie I have no intention of seeing. 'Bad Company'.

There is one overriding reason I will not touch this movie. Chris Rock. I will not watch a movie with Chris Rock in it.

Gary Oldman for me. I've seen him in unreleased films like Dead Fish and Euro slashers like Backwoods and he's always watchable, in a typecast verging on mentalism mould. Strange that having shown a flair for directing, Nil by Mouth remains his only credit.
