Thats true so perhaps he just likes to make films with an anti imperialistic theme or anti oppression theme and doesn't mind which area of history or part of the world he uses to base his stories, as long as they don't have any anti American sentiment because that is one thing the voters of the USA, (and Im talking about the general mass of mid west citizens who don't have a passport and have never ventured out of their own state) will not stand for and would probably finish his career entirley! I mean its one thing to upset the Jewish community of the USA but to antagonise the religious right by crticising the morals of the USA?.....well you might as well assume another identity and leave town!
