Does anyone know what has happened to this US based site. I have purchased a number of DVDs from them (including many British Films) over the years but my last order went unanswered and their website hasn't been updated since March 07.

Doug's site has been down for over a year. Doug moved from Florida to the Northwest United States about 2-3 years ago.

I also purchased films from Doug over the years. I'd like to be kind, but honesty is the best policy. Doug's DVD's were of varying quality, poorly recorded, and often barely watchable. Most of all they were over priced. Fortunately I was often trading film for film for which I usually got the worst end of the deal. But, at least I wasn't paying $15-16 for a $0.25 unlabeled DVD recorded from a bad videotape with the opening credits either cut off or superimposed with tracking information. The worst thing was the inconsistent quality. I don't know how many "upgrades" I bought which were sometimes worse than what I already had. But, to Doug's credit he did often have a lot of films that were hard to find from other places. However, now with Ioffer.com and Sell.com it's often much easier to find rare films than ever before. There are a few other collector's who consistently provide excellent quality prints, too.

Try Downunder DVD

I find the films there to be of nice quality and very reasonably priced.
