Perhaps....but Swords and Sandals were as popular as athletes foot when he made Gladiator. For the record, I think The Duellists is his best work....

Oh heck, I'm in agreement with Penfold. Sort of. I'd say 'Alien' and the 'Dualists' in any order.
I also appreciate 'Blade Runner' and 'Gladiator'... but I don't rate Ridley Scott particularly highly (though much much higher than Tony Scott). He's a good visualist and a good Director, but a really great Director should be much more than that. Oh well, at least I know Penfold won't ever be in agreement with me, even when I'm agreeing with him - lol. |
