Hey !
I know there is Skype out there , But has anyone tried TeamSpeak ?
this is one system that online gamers use ( so the whole team is on one party line kind of thing )
the game we played was Wolfenstein . http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/8629/wolfxi9.png
and our team ( CLAN as it is known ) we use to play league
matches on a sunday night our team never faired all that well and languish
at the bottom of the ladder leauge
but it was fun ( my team had players from : UK , Holland , German , USA , Austria , and Spain ) all of us in our 30/40s Guys and Girls , although our lives
have changed somewhat we still keep touch with each other . couple of years
ago we had a meet up in Holland ( as it was central -ish to most of us )
ANYWAYS to the point ( as i do go on sometimes )
I still have a teamTalk server running , so BritMovie forum users can if they feel
have a chinwag with each other
Install the teamspeak client is easy !
TeamSpeak - Downloads <--- link
select Windows TeamSpeak 2 Client ( forget the updated one it mentions )
there are also Mac or Linux versions.
if anyone wants to run their own server ,
they can also download the TeamSpeak Server.
now to use TeamSpeak :
you will need a microphone and headphones ( speakers are ok .. but you can get loop feedback echo )
after install Teamspeak2 fire it up
and at the top left corner click on "Connect" and drop down the tab
select "Quick Connect"
In "Server Address" the ip to put is :
78.129.194.2:8717 ( there is no password set )
enter a nick name ( this is the name you will be viewed as when you etc )
then just click connect , and hopefully it will say "Link Engaged"
and you are on , you will see in your nick and a green dot next to name
this will change slighty as you talk into microphone
you can click on settings and select sound iput/output and move slider
*note
when chattting you can click on a persons name and select to send Private msg
the Only time i set a password is if we ever have a good old get together
of the old gang for a evening shoot out and a few beers and chat
anyways its there if anyone wants to test it out.
and as i say it easy to set up one owns server for friends / family.
and as with Skype it is free .
Kind Regards
Richard
