I bought an LG TV model no; 32LG5700 about 16 months ago. It does what it claimed to do, but with one exception, the Remote control drives me crazy. Despite fitting new batteries, it is really slow and temperamental. I am very careful to point it at the TV but find it very reluctant to work properly when changing channel or trying to adjust the volume. If you hold the remote about 6 inches away from the set, it seems to work ok, but doesn't that defeat the object of having a Remote Control. I sit about 9feet away from the set, surely that isn't too far is it?. I have a Currys no visible name set in another room, the remote works no matter where you point it, so surely my expectations are not too high for the LG, are they?.

Most of the big supernarket chains are now selling Universal remote controls. If it were me having this problem I'd buy one and see if it operates the set any better. If not, return it saying it doesn't operate your particular set very well.

I'd also be tempted to contact LG to highlight the problem. They maybe consumer friendly seeing as they are quite upwardly mobile in the electronics retail market at present.

Some remotes seem to work on quite a narrow beam and you have to point them quite accurately at the sensor on the set

I have an LG TV and, when I demolished my original, I bought a One For All 4-in-1 Universal Remote for it - and it works beautifully.

It also tunes into the DVD, Satellite and VCR (basic functions) - and you can get one on e-Bay for a tenner (P&P FREE): 4-in-1 Remote
