Default TMPGEnc DVD Author 3

I know a few of you use the TMPGEnc products, one worth trying is DVD Author 3. I've been having a tinker over the last few days and found it an improvement on Tsunami and perhaps my author of choice henceforth.

Installed but not tried this yet, always found the previous versions excellent though, easy to use and fast without having to learn dozens of commands. I'm a big fan of Tmpgenc Xpress v3/4 for converting avi etc to mpg too, makes a good fast job of the task.

I'd like to recommend Cinematize - a very useful program if you have a use for it. Basically it allows you to save a clip - or a a whole film - from any DVD-R or DVD in a variety of formats or even as separate sound and video. The quality is the same as the original.
I'm always compiling clips for a film class so this is a real timesaver but I recommend downloading it (it comes in 2 flavours, Pro and Standard) rather than buying the boxed version. The dollar price is much cheaper than the GBP one.

Many thanks for the tip, I have been looking for software that can do this. The clips can be removed without having to copy the DVD to the HD which make the task so quick and easy.

Does it also remove any copy protection?

Er, no, that would be asking a bit much from a legit program. (But then there's always DVD Shrink or Mac The Ripper for that). What it does is "unlock" the material burned onto a disc (or in a VIDEO TS folder) so you can access it directly if you wish. It's a one trick pony but very useful if you need it.
