Unable to play DVDs on my PC

Many thanks, Arthur - that all makes sense, as before I had the problem WMP or Winamp appeared as soon as I inserted the DVD - now it's hit and miss - I have to go to My Computer to see if the icon for the particular DVD has appeared or not. I've now downloaded VLC and will see how it goes and report later.

I've inserted a DVD and a pop-up has appeared saying "Windows can perform the same action each time you insert a disc...what do you want Windows to do?"

Which option should I select - Play DVD Video, Play DVD movie using InterVideo WinDVD, Play DVD movie using WMP or Play DVD movie using VLC, and having made my selection, should I tick the box that says "Always do the selected action"?

I've provisionally selected "Play DVD movie using VLC" and ticked the box. Does that mean that the other media players are now redundant?

Not at all. The other media players can be used whenever you choose but you only need one really because VLC will do everything you could ever want.

If you like VLC then select that option from the list and check the Alway.... box.

If not, choose WMP and you should be back to what you were used to.
