This sounds stupid, I know, but how do you actually connect a cable to an aerial? I've never needed to do it before, but a friend asked me to set up her Televes DAT 45 aerial, and there are no instructions and no cable, and I realised I have absolutely no idea what is needed! Can any of you sensible people help me out, please?

An aerial should come with a short lead with a connector on the end or a socket in the body of the aerial that you can plug a lead in to. The other end of that lead then goes into the back of the TV set. It's usually a UHF "F connector"

If there's nowhere to plug the lead in - then the aerial is NFG

With a fancy aerial like that you might have to unscrew a junction box to find the connector
