PCI-E 2.0 cards are backward compatible with motherboards containing PCI 1.0 slots. But there are plenty of suppliers on the net and would be a good idea to get confirmation/advice from them before you buy.
Please can someone clarify something for me. I want to get a new graphics card for one of my PCs, the card that needs to be replaced is a PCI Express x16 - plug-in card, I'm wondering about the suitability of graphics cards that are listed as PCI-Express 2.0 x16, would one of those fit in the slot that is currently occupied by the PCI Express x16 card?
Or would they need a slightly different slot.
Also I'm wondering why the specifications for the PC describe the current card as a "plug-in card" I don't see that on the advertisements for graphics cards, I thought that they were all plug-in cards?
