What system are you using it from? I haven't been able to use it since I started using Windows 7.
My iPhone tells me that a couple of apps need to be updated. But they can only be updated via itunes

Hi,
having real problems with all things itunes lately.
1) can not access itunes store.
2) takes over 10 hours to download an album into my library
3) trying to put extra songs onto ipod - but only does one at a time
4) Got my daughter an ipod nano but despite being fully charged the battery is almost flat after just a couple of hours usage.
Done a file clean up, also plenty memory left on ipods and laptop so really not sure what the problem is. Have been in touch with itunes but really haven't been much help at present. Just wondering if anyone else on here had similar problems in the past and how they resolved it.
Cheers

I had a similar problem - though not quite so bad. My own problem was solved when my old PC 'expired' and I got a new one. You also need to keep up with the Apple updates for i-Tunes.
It sounds like it could be a memory problem with your laptop. Sometimes they have a partition and you only have access to half of the memory - you have to free the other half; my brother's just had to do that for a friend of his.
As for the i-Pod - if it's under guarantee, take it back now! My (very) old one started doing that and, eventually, the hard drive crashed.
Isn't it a regular problem with Apple gadgets that they often won't work on older Macs (though ironically will work just fine on older PCs)?
My brother's just 'adjusted' a neighbour's laptop - it also had plenty of memory available but it was 'partitioned', so he's resized them and expanded C:\ to take up the extra space.
Sometimes the memory is on there, but it has to be freed up to enable it to be used. (Did that make sense?)
It did make sense, but it's not a problem with the memory. It's that when I plug in the iPhone it says that iTunes needs to be upgraded and then it fails during the upgrade. I think it might be because iTunes haven't yet released a version that can run on an advanced multi-processor laptop like mine

Thanks people! IPod nano going back to a major store at some stage this week - not something I really wanted to this side of chrimbo but there you - despite buying item from play.com if you have an apple appliance that goes wrong you have to back to your nearest major store!
The autofill seems to be working on a couple of ipods but not the wifes!
Haven't tried downloading a different album yet - really can't be tempting myself getting in a mood with it at the moment!!
Is it iOS4, Steve?
I just read this on the Apple forums:
What I did was to delete my previous backup.
iTunes > Prefs > Devices tab > Delete Backup
Then I did another sync. (It took about 45 minutes because it was a full backup from scratch).
I then hit the Update button and didn't get any warnings. It downloaded and updated my phone to iOS 4 just fine!
This is what happens when you buy a 'one-phone-does-everything' thingummyjig......![]()
I think I finally got it figured out
As well as removing all the Apple programs from my system and every directory that they used I also had to remove the Apple Mobile Device Support - and then re-install everything, and at last it has started working again.
Apple and Microsoft just don't mix well
Steve
Excellent!
I can't say that I've ever had a serious problem with i-Tunes & Microsoft together - nor do I know of anybody else who has.
I had some initial teething problems when I first got my new PC, but that was mainly due to the fact that I discovered I was pioneering Windows 7 64-bit! Nothing was compatible with it at the beginning of the year, but they've worked really hard to keep it updated and it's much better and getting betterer all the time!
I think yours has just got pissed off because you slag off Windows all the time!![]()
