Philips Aurea LCD TV
I was wondering whether anyone on the forum has purchased one of the new Philips Aurea LCD tv's ?
The Aurea has an active frame called Ambilight Spectra, which changes colour to match what is being shown on the screen.
Previous Philip models used Ambilight, which projected light from behind the screen on to the wall behind in an effort to extend the picture beyond the frame.
The Philips Aurea now has the lighting to the front of the panel and surrounding the screen.
I have heard that the effect is outstanding. The active frame apparently makes the 106cm (42 inch) screen seem a lot bigger. The changing colours of the frame match the nearest part of the picture.
The frame has a number of settings - relaxed, moderate and dynamic - to adjust the intensity and responsiveness of the lights. The Ambilight can be turned off by the remote.
Sounds like very interesting technology.
Has anyone on the forum witnessed the Aurea in action?
Dave.
