Does anyone know how to record NTSC video tapes onto dvd?

I have found that if you fool the machine, press record on dvd then start NTSC Video it works.D

Thanks Hippie Dave, I shall try that as I don't have anything on my setup menu about changing dvd from Pal to NTSC.
