It was a matter of time,region free blue ray players are arriving to the shops,that is,on the internet. Players that will play all region regular dvd,s and the blue ray ones. Of course,this comes at a higher cost,several blue ray dvd'available in the UK can be used on region one blue ray players,they contain no region code.

Can anyone recommend a Blu-Ray / DVD player that comes multi-region or is easily hackable (assuming they can be hacked like some DVD players ?)
Your urgent advice on models would be greatly appreciated...

How can one play Blu-Rays on a PC? The players for TVs appear to about 350 squids! This PC has a 22" monitor and would be ideal.

Whilst on the subject how can you plug satellite TV off a SKY decoder so that a PC monitor can be used? Please.

Blu-Ray DVD drives for PC are available from around £85. You need decent software and a fairly quick compatible system to handle the BR disks. There is an app available to check your system

If you go the PC route, all you need then to make your Blu-ray drive multi-region - for both SD and HD playback - is a piece of software like AnyDVD HD:

SlySoft AnyDVD HD

If you're going to go down the PC route, make sure that you have the following things:

A 1080P compatible monitor (the best will output a maximum resolution of 1920*1200 pixels. Any less, and you ain't seeing full HD (A 24 inch monitor would be best).

Also, make sure that both the monitor and the graphics card are HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) compliant. Some discs demand this standard, and if they don't detect it will be reduced to a maximum standard definition output.
