Try this, I am not shouting but this is how I have it on my pc:

TO MAKE YOUR DVD PLAYER ACCEPT ANY DVD

1. TURN ON THE POWER AND REMOVE ANY DISCS, CLOSE DRAWER
2. WAIT FOR “ NO DISC “ TO APPEAR ON YOUR DVD PLAYER SCREEN
3. USING YOUR REMOTE CONTROL PRESS: REPEAT 5-6-7-3-2-9 CONSECUTIVELY
4. THEN PRESS THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON ON YOUR DVD PLAYER
5. NOW TRY A DVD DISC FROM A DIFFERENT REGION

IF THIS IS NOT PROVING SUCESSFUL RESET THE DVD PLAYER BY PRESSING STOP AND PLAY BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE CONTROL FOR 5 SECONDS SIMULTANEOUSLY, DON’T FORGET TO REMOVE ANY DVD DISCS IN THE DRAWER. THEN TRY STEPS 2 – 4 AGAIN.

GOOD LUCK.

Let me know how you get on

Sony's are difficult to convert and you'll probably need a separate one-for-all remote control:

DVD Player, Blu-ray and HD DVD Player region codes
