Not entirely sure that i understand the problem correctly,(probably not) , but i know that if you are viewing a dvd through a shared AV channel, one of the alternative sources can sometimes intrude. Suggest you select an AV channel dedicated to dvd watching only....

Dodgy lead surely?

Can you manually switch to the AV channel on the telly instead of letting the telly do it automatically? When I do that with my telly it stays on AV until I manually switch it back.

Totally agree. Try changing to gold plated leads and as you have a Sky box, contact Sky as they will do absolutely anything to keep your custom, tell them your sky box is playing up, that way you will get excellent advice, for free, from their engineers on site and they will probably solve your problem.
