Default blue ray dvd recorder

any news in the UK about the manufacture of blue ray dvd recorders? here in Canada,at the moment, they are not available. rumours are circulating that they may be available sometime this summer, with a retail price around 3500.00 dollars. At that price, very few consumers will be able to afford to purchase one. As for the blank discs, one shop here in Toronto, sell the blank discs for around 30 dollars each.

Yes, you can buy them here. Costing from £59 (CA$118) for the very cheapest, up to whatever you want to spend on it

Steve
It does seem a tad odd to me that they should be so expensive in Canada compared to the price here.

Or am I missing something?

I think the original poster is talking about set-top recorders attached to the TV. PC Blu-ray burners are available for @£160, but the disks are @£9 each for a 25GB disk and £23 for 50GB.

Yes you can not beat a normal disc with a nice DivX format file to max disc space while maintaining video quality

I will avoid Blu-ray for as long as I can do until HD becomes the only viable format to work from
