Default Problems transferring VHs to DVD

I would like to transfer some some Vhs cartoons for my daughter onto dvds but don't know how to do it.

I have a dvd recorder and tried to apply a scart from the video to the dvd rec but it just doesn't work...it simply recorded a digital channel instead...

hope somebody may be able to share some info as I'm stumped.

Make sure your scart is in the correct scart socket. It sounds as if you're still getting input from your TV receiver.

1. Find the scart lead that is linking your television/digital/freeview box to the DVD recorder.

2. Remove that one from the back of your DVD recorder and replace it with the one from the video.

3. Make sure the DVD recorder is on. Press play on the video and you should be able to see the video on your television.

4. Press the record button on your DVD recorder and voila!

When you're done, don't forget to change the scart leads back!

Many recorders today are dual vhs/dvd which makes the process very easy.Certainly recommended if you want to transfer a large number of items on to DVD

If you don't want to tinker about at the back of your DVD recorder with scart leads, has it got front input phono plugs? Should be three - yellow for video and red and white for audio. If you have, you can take the output from your VHS player into these (with the correct leads or adaptors, depending on your VHS output options - if you only have scart, a scart to phono plug adaptor is only a couple of quid). Then just select the front or line input option when recording from your VHS to DVD.

You might have another problem if your source videotape is copy protected.

Good luck.

Default Vhs to dvd

Hi,

Try using an older VCR (top loaders are great) They often don't see the encryption and if you get one with good heads you will get a great copy.
Don't worry if the heads are poor as most are still available and they are dead easy to change, most other problems that you would encounter can be traced back to rubber belts and idlers....all easy to change too!

One day the whole world will be using vintage VCR equipment Well, i can but try.

My top VCR's include Ferguson 3V29/30 and National Panasonic NV333 or 366. All of these are easy to get spares for and give great results.

All the best,

Chris.

Hi Cris, you can buy a macrovision copyright removal decoder if thats your problem with transfering. It's very simple to set up and they're on sale on the web, not too sure about the high street, but I am sure you'll be able to get one at a local pc fair.

I have added this link just to show you what you are looking for and I know you can get them for around 25 quid.

multi-region.co.uk - Multiregion DVD upgrades and modifications for UK region 2 DVD players

Hope this helps

Vetchbook ,What you are doing so far is correct but you have to switch over the A/V on your dvd recorder's remote control ,press the A/V button a few times and until you see a picture coming through the recorder channel and that should work.

There's a lot of dignity in that, isn't there? Going out like a raspberry ripple.
