Default DVD query

One for you techies. I own a Toshiba mutli-zone player and have never had a problem playing region encoded discs previously. I popped an Anchor Bay disc in the other day and a prompt appeared saying "disc unauthorized playback". Has anybody else experienced a similar problem or any notion what the cause may be?

Have you tried it a number of times ?
Occasionally I seem to get buffer-tye problems, when discs won't behave. It's like they have filled a memory buffer or something.

Resting the machine a while always seems to work for me.

If that's not the answer, it might help if you said what title it was (i.e. how recent it is may have some bearing with new technology/codings whatever...)

clap Hackett !! Now was that a good feed line, or what ?

Anyhow, must confess said disc (What's'isname) runs fine on all mine, from the cheap & cheerful to the Recorders. Can't think what that'll be...

I assume you've only just got the disc and it's not just something that's happened to an old favourite ?

Only other suggestion would be see if it does the same on other multimod machines, just in case it's that particular disc.

BTW - any trouble with the Abi Titmuss disc can be solved quite easily... unlike other DVDs, it quite likes a bit of the old Baby Oil to help it slip into the player... blush

Is your player actually multi-region or just one that has had its region disabled? If it is latter your DVD may have RCE protection.

Sorted. I updated the firmware and after a few worrying moments it's now playing the problematic disk.
