I'v got a Sony DAV-S550 Compact AV System which has a built in PAL NTSC auto change system but only plays region 2. Anyone out there know how to convert it to multi region play?. I'v tried DVDAnswer and DVDHack but no luck.

I'm pretty sure that Sony's can't be handset hacked.

Check out AV Forums Home, dare say you'll find an answer there.
They have an externsive hack database.

BTW, Hackett IOU a film, drop me a PM sometime.
PS. 'Hackett'; there's a corny joke there somewhere.

I know it's a tad expensive but if it works then it will expand your choice of dvd's considerably.
I've bought about 60 or 70 region 1's on ebay, saved a fortune and never been gipped either from this country or the US.

Nice one Jock, It took about 10mins and cost about £20. Great value and dead easy even for me. If anyone out there with a Sony wants to do the same I would recommend the site 100%. Watched "THE CRIMINAL" 1960 in widescreen on the US DVD I brought a couple of weeks ago straight away. It was top quality. Big thanks again Jock.

There are easy-peasy remote control hacks for hundreds of dvd players at the link listed below.
VideoHelp.com. Probably the most comprehensive dvd info site going.

However, some of the higher end manufacturers such as Sony & Pioneer have made it impossible to hack their machines through their remote controls, so some helpful small organisations have set up a service that allows one to buy or rent a "chipped" remot e to switch the dvd to multi-region.

My own machine switched easily in seconds with a remote control hack from the site above, unfortunately Hackett's machine would have required a Palm PDA to inaugerate a hack and even then wasn't guaranteed to be successful.

We have a Panasonic SA HT500 which is sadly locked to Region 2. Does anyone know if this machine can be changed to multi region please?
