I currently use, dvd shrink, and nero ultra to burn and re-encode dvd's, anyone know of any software that will allow me to keep the menu structure?
Also i've just got a video card,to do a few remaining vid to dvd coversions, any suggested software for creating menus and being able to choose where you would like a chapter to be?

cheers Ollie.

DVDshrink will allow you to keep the menu structure. One good thing about DVDshrink is that if the menu takes up a lot space because of associated film clips, there is an option to convert the menu to still images and keep the menu intact. This frees up space for the film, therefore improving the quality. Another good prog. is DVDremake (only use 2.6.6 or above, the other versions are buggy) This allows you to take out adverts and other annoying things that all take up space and keep the menu. You can also inactivate buttons, add buttons etc. etc. Using this in combination with DVDshrink can give very good results. Most of the time I just use DVD2one.

I'll 'av 'arf

thanx for the info but in my experience shrink will only allow you to keep the menu structure if you back up,not re-encode take your point about the still vid images tho',if somthing has to be heavily compressed i find the pixilation too distracting, Thanx for the other sotware suggestions very helpfull.

cheers Ollie.

Sometimes I compress the menus as still pictures, which I find gives me a bit more space.
Some one once told me about some software that allows you to edit the menus and even create your own menu structure. I will try and find out what it was... unless someone else can remember?

bye

Me too - seems to do the job well enough although the menu building is very limited. It appears to be easy to get hold of on the P2P networks for those who prefer to sidestep conventional revenue collection methods.

TMPGEnc DVD Author
Yes that's the one!
It's quite freely availible... I always thought it was donation supported like shrink, stripper and decrypter. Do you have to pay for it then?

Yep, this is what I use to edit out adverts etc. and author DVDs recorded from TV. It's excellent. Very simple to use. It's not free but it is "out there" in Warez land. Get the latest version (v1.6). The separate AC3 pluggin is available too.

I have a panny e55 stand alone dvd-r RAM recorder, and a pioneer 107 burner in my pc,now even tho' my 107 says it will read RAM it wont read the panny formated ram discs.
I would like to have the facility to record on the panny RAM disc's, edit out the ads, then burn a copy with my pc,thus allowing me to reuse the RAM disc, any ideas on any firmware upgrades,or software that would allow my burner to read the panny RAM disc's??

Cheers Ollie.
