I own both VHS and DVD machines which play tapes and discs from the UK and the US. Is it possible to hook these machines up to a computer and therefore view them on the computer monitor? I don't really intend to sit and watch films on the computer but I do want to 'capture images' and print them out. Any ideas would be welcome.

Thank you,
Christopher Matheson

You'll need to buy a capture card for your PC.

I assume you mean, capture still images , ie 'screen shots' from movies? Clearly, if you have a dvd-rom drive and dvd software like 'power DVD' then you can capture screen shots from dvd and save them to your hard-drive.. Capturing from vhs is a different game all together, and a capture card (usually TV-tuner card) will be required as DB7 suggests.
In my experience, capturing vhs in any form, is usually a less than rewarding/satisfactory experience.. And trying to configure the hardware/software to do what it's supposed to do, is seldom as easy as the adverts imply.
The whole thing is a minefield - You will require luck, patience and lots of time...Best of British....
